Hibira vs Pusher Beams

A push notification service that speaks the Beams API: keep your server code, change the endpoint, and get realtime channels in the same plan.

Hibira Push speaks the Pusher Beams v1 HTTP API. Your server keeps using the official Beams server libraries with a different endpoint, and your apps switch to Hibira's open-source forks of the Beams client SDKs.

At a glance

Beams figures are from pusher.com/beams/pricing, checked on 2026-10-24. Hibira's plans are on the pricing page.

Push and realtime in one plan

Most apps that send push notifications also want live updates while the app is open. With Pusher, that is two plans: for example Channels Pro ($99) and Beams Pro ($99) together cost $198 a month. Hibira's Pro plan at $89 includes 3,000 concurrent connections, 6 million messages a day and 75,000 push subscribers.

What changes when you move

  • Server: set the endpoint in the Beams server library for Node, Python or Go, or call the same HTTP API from any language. Publishing code stays the same.
  • Apps: replace the Beams client SDK with Hibira's fork and set the endpoint. Because the client changes, mobile apps need a new release, and devices register again the first time they open the new version.
  • Credentials: upload your APNs key and FCM service account to the app in Hibira.

The push notifications guide walks through each platform.

When Beams is the better fit

  • You cannot ship a new app version soon, so the client SDK cannot change yet.
  • You need Pusher's existing integrations or contracts.

When Hibira is the better fit

  • You want push and realtime channels under one plan and one bill.
  • You need more subscribers per dollar, or more than 250,000 subscribers on a listed plan.
  • Your users are in Asia and you want support in their languages.
